Kenney Shape is a huge collection of assets commonly used in the game dev community. Kenney Shape.
An Overview of Kenney Shape
To start, I’d like to talk about one of the more well-known figures in indie game development today which is Kenney Vleugels who just so happens to offer a very large collection of two-dimensional graphical assets that are both versatile and cross-compatible with multiple different gaming engines as well as projects. The collection is made up of a variety of different shapes, icons, and elements that are all executed in an appealingly clean style that can be used across many game genres from puzzle games to educational software.
One of the main things that sets Kenney Shape apart is its accessibility and versatility as a design kit, which lets developers get right to designing without getting hung up on how they might have to make certain elements work. Assets are usually under a public domain license of some form or another, allowing them to be used for any purpose including commercial with very few restrictions (if just non-commercial work is permissive enough) which greatly reduces the entry barrier in game development at least for beginners and anyone on budget.
